Fun First. Marketing Second.

Live Challenge May 27th - 30th

“You need to be consistent. Have a plan. Maximize leads!”

Okay, sure. But how can you do all that when marketing feels less enjoyable than cleaning your toilet?

Instead of forcing yourself to market like corporate hustlers, it’s time to make marketing work for you and your unique, creative brain.

How do you do that as a perfectionist? Half-ass it!

In this 4-Day experiment (aka, daily live challenge), you’ll go from “ugh, this feels gross” to “I’m talking to my people” And find the type of marketing you like best.

Fun fact: When you like what you do, you’ll want to do it more.

Aka, you’ll automatically become consistent and work towards a plan, without any content calendars and TikTok growth hacks required.

4 days of live training, accountability, and sharing a marketing post each day

Only $100!

Just kidding, it’s 50% off with code PHAM50

Last time, a student got 20 subscribers from a 5 minute exercise

“AMBER IS A MARKETING MIRACLE WORKER. A NATIONAL TREASURE AND A MIRACLE WORKER. THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID IT AND I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING NOW. YOU'RE WELCOME”

- Kalika

What is this?

Starting May 27th at 10am PT/ 1pm ET/ 6pm UK, we’ll meet Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for 1 hour live.

The first day, we’ll set up the experiment:

What kind of marketing you like to do…and how can it be easy?

You’ll get a list of options (from asking for collabs, pitching articles, to posting on Instagram), stick to one kind of marketing outreach, and do it all four days.

Every day, you’ll get prompts to inspire your posts/outreach and time during the workshop to get it done. Plus, tools to stave off perfectionism and “it might not be the best idea, so I’ll work on it for another 10 hours” disease.

Then, time to ask questions and get guidance on the type of marketing that works best for you and your audience.

By the end of the week, you’ll probably have new subscribers. It’s highly unlikely that 4 days of regular marketing will leave you with nothing.

I can’t promise any huge numbers or outrageous results. This isn’t about going viral.

If you wanted to follow all the viral hacks and marketing optimization advice, you’d already be doing it.

But you know that doesn’t work for you. And there’s nothing wrong with that!

In this challenge, your desire comes first. Then the rest comes a lot easier.

“During the challenge, I've posted on LinkedIn twice! After dreading every LinkedIn post. Once with an IWD post about women who give very few fucks, and just today with a post about inadvertently but hilariously teaching my son "That's what she said." The "that's what she said" post is my favorite thing I've ever published, honestly.”

- Kali

Want to shake off imposter syndrome and get more done in 2 hours than you’d normally get done in a week?

Hello, I’m a perfectionist who used to hate marketing

Also, my name is Amber Petty and I’m a writer for the New York Times, Parade, Bustle, MTV, IFC, and a bunch more. And I’ve grown my newsletter to 11,000 subscribers in 3 years, which supports my 6-figure business. Currently, I help 300+ writers get bylines and grow their audience in my membership, the Pitching Hour.

Before all that, I was an actor and I hated promoting my shows more than auditioning. And auditioning was terrible! But asking someone to come to a show felt like I was asking if I could stab them lightly with a knife. The whole process was miserable and as a result, my audiences were empty.

When I started my newsletter and business, I needed to make peace with marketing. Yes, I followed lots of “expert strategies,” including one that cost me $10,000 and asked me to follow rules that made 0 sense for my work.

Over time, I focused on what I wanted to share, how I helped people, and how I could make it clear why people would like my stuff. And they did.

My newsletter and business grew and one day I sat down to write an ad and thought “ooh, this is so fun!” Yes, the marketing part was as fun as everything else in my business.

I’m not some genius who found out the “secrets to getting more leads.” But I have found ways to bring creativity and personality to marketing, both for me and my clients.

In this challenge, you don’t need to worry about numbers, hashtags, or best times to post. You just have to show up, bring your creative energy, and feel the freedom of reaching new fans.

“It’s so helpful to have an hour set aside to get something done - so even if the rest of your week falls apart, you got something done!! ;)”

- Sarah Garvey

FAQs About the Challenge

When is the challenge?

May 27th - 30th. The workshop starts at 10am PT/ 1pm ET/ 6pm UK each day and runs for about an hour. Plus, there are replays for every session, if you can’t make it live.

How much does this cost?

$100 normally. But the economy sucks so you get 50% Off with the code PHAM50. You keep the class forever and can use the exercises over and over to get a marketing boost whenever you like.

How much time do I need to devote to this challenge?

1 hour a day for 4 days! You’ll work during the workshop, so you won’t need to do any homework.

I don’t have an offer or project to promote. Is this for me?

No! For this workshop, you’ll get the best results if you have a newsletter, email list, business, podcast, YouTube channel, or other project to promote. You don’t need all of those! Just one is fine. But if you’re just pitching articles to publications, this isn’t a good fit.

I have a question that’s not here. What can I do?

You can email me! Email amber@amberpetty.com and I’ll answer anything!
