Editors constantly need stories. Why not yours?
“That went by so fast. I've gone from being creatively blocked to coming up with 9 pitch ideas in the space of an hour. Thank you so much for this workshop!”
-Jas

Note: You don’t need a J name to come to this class.

Types of ideas editors are looking for (spoiler: it’s probably something you tell your clients daily)
How to format a pitch (and how to avoid editor pet peeves)
Real editor pitch requests (so you can write it up during the workshop and pitch before the class is over)
Time to start your pitch in class (just show up, keep typing, and you’ll have something to send)
A resource with over 250 paying places that take pitches (that you can keep forever)
Live feedback - One person will get live coaching to sharpen their ideas and hit the right audience.
All your questions answered - Curious where to pitch? How much places pay? Where I got my cool glasses? I’ll answer anything during the Q&A
A recording of the workshop - Whether Steven Spielberg calls to hire you for a new screenplay or your kid decides to throw up everywhere, if something comes up, you’ll get a recording of the workshop. That way you can write along in your own time.
Here’s what happy clients said…
“This workshop helped me start a piece I’d been thinking about starting for months. I loved the exercises and having the support of the group. Amber’s kind, down to earth approach alleviated any anxiety I felt about producing work.” - Elizabeth Reynolds
“I knew joining Amber’s workshop was a great idea, but I never expected to write 8 stories for BI, one of which just landed me a 2.5 minute segment on my local news station!!! It's basically a free commercial for both my house/pet sitting business AND my life coaching business, which is just so incredible and amazing that I'm still in shock after it ran on Monday!” - Amber Campbell
“I almost didn’t join but so glad I did. I’ve not pitched for years, as been focusing on my novel, but feel ready, confident, and excited to get back into it again!” - Natalie B.
Students sold stories to Insider, Scary Mommy, Huffington Post, and more - from pitches that started at my free workshop.
Ready for your next byline?
Wait, who’s teaching this?
Hello, my name is Amber Petty! I’ve written for the New York Times, Parade, Bustle, Greatist and a bunch more including Snooki’s blog (jealous?).
After starting my business in 2021, I’ve helped hundreds of creatives and entrepreneurs get published in Huffington Post, the Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, the Cut, Washington Post, the New York Times, and lots more.
Many started with no previous writing samples. Just a genius brain and ideas to share.
Though I have a place in my heart for Instagram and too many minutes of my day devoted to TikTok, it’s wonderful to find places outside of the algorhithm to get eyes on your work.
Pitching does exactly that.
Bonus: Any pitch that doesn’t get picked up can immediately turn into an email, blog post, social post, or other piece of content.
A chance at major media attention with no time wasted.
“Because of her wonderful encouragement, Amber inspired me to pitch a story to Insider about how my husband and I became AirBnB superhosts. Based on her advice, I didn't overthink it and sent it off. The editor wrote back immediately with interest and I just signed the contract!”
- Hilary Hattenbach

FAQs About Paid Publicity
When is the workshop?
Tuesday September 16th
at Noon PT/ 3pm ET/ 8pm UK
Where is the workshop?
On Zoom! You’ll get email reminders and you can keep your camera off (or fully rock PJs and a glass of wine, live your life).
Is this good for novel, TV, or film pitches?
No. You could come and use the 30 minutes for whatever pitch you like, but I’ve never sold a novel, TV show, or screenplay, so I wouldn’t have anything helpful to say. This is best for non-fiction stories, the kinds of ideas you’d see in Insider, Huffington Post, Bustle, Vox, Eater, and places like that.
How much does this cost?
$22. Or $222 for VIP.
Do you offer refunds?
No!
Do I have to be there live?
That would be great, but there will be a recording if you can’t make it.
Who is this for?
It’s for coaches, creative entrepreneurs, and writers. Basically, if you like to write and want more visibility or eyes on your work - this is for you.
Does this work if I’ve never written before?
Do you write emails? Social posts? Journal entries? That’s writing. In any business there’s tons of creative writing, so you’ve been racking up experience without realizing.
Most of my clients had no published articles before they sold a pitch. At this point Business Insider should be called Amber Petty’s clients. Perhaps an exaggeration, but at least 50 articles have come from my clients…and counting.
Editors like working with new writers, so if you like articulating your genius through the written word and can hit deadlines, you can write for a publication.
Are you going to use my information for anything weird?
No! I’ll email you with reminders, recaps, and links to the lives. If you tire of my emails, you can unsubscribe at any time.
I have a question that’s not here. What can I do?
You can email me! Email amber@amberpetty.com and I’ll answer anything!
