If I stayed with “I’m not good enough yet” I’d be out $700K
I considered offering a freelance writing class, but immediately thought “I only have 4 years of experience, that’s not enough.”
Then, I bought a different freelancing class, thought it was great, and looked up the teacher.
THAT DUDE HAD ONE YEAR OF EXPERIENCE AND HAD NO TROUBLE TEACHING A CLASS!
After that, I let imposter syndrome F off (it didn’t stay gone, but I could send it on long vacations), and started offering my own workshops.
I did a free workshop that led to a small coaching package, having zero idea if anyone would care.
That got 77 sign ups and I sold one package.
I ran the free workshop a couple more times and sold 16 more.
That was $3400 in less than a month. Cool!
In the last 4 years, I’ve made $700,000 from my paid workshops and courses.
Really. I just checked it (it’s $707,000 to be more precise). Holy hell.
I can’t promise you’ll make $100K a year. Things are harder right now than usual and it might take a little more time to get your workshops off the ground.
But you can make an extra $300. $500. $1500. This month.
Tell your imposter syndrome to suck on that.

“AMBER IS A MIRACLE WORKER. A NATIONAL TREASURE AND A MIRACLE WORKER. THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID IT AND I CAN'T STOP SCREAMING NOW. YOU'RE WELCOME"” - Kalika
“I didn't really have any hesitations after watching Amber’s free "Why you should start a newsletter" class, but one thing that really drew me in was that the intensive was really practical and actionable - especially the walking us through setting up the tech. SUPER useful!” - Sara Judith, happy to buy a course after coming to a free workshop
“I'm just so grateful to have started. That analogy Amber gave of getting help on the path rather than bumping along on your own really resonated with me.” - Valerie Black
Want a practical & actionable class that makes you so glad you started?
Hello, I’m Amber
I’m a writer for the New York Times, Thrillist, Greatist, Bustle, MTV, IFC, and a bunch more (including Snooki’s blog, are you jealous?). In the last 4 years, I’ve taught over 1000 students, helped hundreds of people get bylines and build their audience, and made at least $150,000 a year.
I’m not a marketer or a business genius. I’m a former improviser with a BA in Theater.
There’s endless advice on building a business and running workshops. But this is one of the very few courses that focuses on keeping your unique, creative humanity as the core.
Yes, you’ll learn sales techniques and some of it might feel a little weird. But it’s not scammy or manipulative.
In fact, you’ll already be good because most of it is story telling. Hence my extremely unprofitable acting background turning into my greatest asset in business.
Every time I send a sales email (an email with the express purpose to sell a course, mind you), someone writes back “thanks for this, I love your emails.” On a sales email!
Not because I’m so cool (though I am, but it’s unrelated), but because I’m just a human being sharing how my stuff can help other humans. That’s it.
Workshops aren’t instant goldmines. Nothing is.
But they’ve been the most creatively satisfying and financially liberating things I’ve ever done.
“Taking this class was a kick in the pants for me to finally commit to building my business”
- Micaela Blei
FAQs About Make Money with Workshops
When is the course?
Now! You get access to all the videos immediately. There is no live component. Watch on your own time and keep the video forever.
How much does this cost?
$499. But I’m doing a birthday sale so get it for $299 or 3 payments of $100 with the code BDAY40 till May 9th.
How much time do I need to devote to this course?
3-4 hours to view the videos. After that, you could put up a workshop in 1-2 weeks if you’d like to move fast. Or easily put it up in a month with a more moderate pace.
Does this cover how to promote and sell workshops?
Yes! The course covers how to pick a topic and structure workshops, but the rest is how to promote and sell. Because it doesn’t matter if you have a great workshop if no one ones how to find it.
I don’t have an audience, would this work for me?
I built most of my audience from doing free workshops. In fact, I had no audience before my first free workshop. So, it’s a great way to build a platform. But, if you have no or a very small audience, you probably won’t make as much money right way. I didn’t say no money! But if you have 50 people, your sales might be low. That’s fine since the free workshops both build your audience and sell to your audience. I just don’t want to make any 6 figure promises.
I have a question that’s not here. What can I do?
You can email me! Email amber@amberpetty.com and I’ll answer anything!
